NLFSC Holds
Annual General Meeting
The Mount Peyton Hotel in Grand FallsWindsor was the site for the Annual General Meeting of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of School Councils on May 2-4, 2003. The participants consisted of 50 delegates, executive members, board trustees, speakers, guests, and staff, for a total of 74 people. The theme of this year’s conference was “School CommunitiesGiving Them A Voice.”
Again this year there was media attention in the days leading up to and following the AGM. We believe that this is evidence that the NLFSC is seen as a serious and interested stakeholder in education. There were articles printed in The Advertiser and The Telegram. It was carried as a news item on both VOCM and CBC radio. CBC Radio did live interviews with both Denise and Dr. Alice Collins. Rogers Cable was present at the AGM on Saturday.
Much work was done in preparation for the AGM by the local planning committee in Grand Falls-Windsor.
The registration desk was handled by parent volunteers from Sprucewood Academy.
If you weren't able to attend, you will find highlights of the AGM in this issue of The Cuffer. If you would like more information on anything that was covered at the meeting, please contact us and we will get it for you.
